A little canal for all on a privatized shoreline becomes a channel of hope on a sea of devastation.
The series of doc-art films aims to explore the lives and profiles of Beirut's post-war generation. The thematic direction involves highlighting the city through the creative and unique ways its youth chose to differentiate themselves from the chaos that so easily steals the essence of the city from those who deserve it the most. These ways are often played out as side narratives, bubbles, outcasts with a rebellious flair of individualism. As close as they are to one another, fear of being open to judgement keeps them apart. One narrative at a time, the series of documentary films will discover the different diverse circles of Beirut sheds focusing on the light in each that makes them unique yet a replica of one another. Our first episode sheds a light on the underexposed skate scene/community, with a strong focus on pure 'Beirut-y shredder" who has a long and consistent history in perfecting the craft of skating since the late 90s. The film aims to poetically explore the scene and shed light on the discrepancy between reality and the clouded perception of those who are completely oblivious to the level of skill, courage, and mental attitude needed to master such an activity IN BEIRUT.
